Gov. Kathy Hochul's campaign for a full term next year picked up the endorsements of two labor unions in New York ahead of the June Democratic primary.

Hochul was given the nod from the United Steelworkers and the Hotel Trades Council. Combined, both labor groups have thousands of members in New York and have been politically active organizations.

“I am incredibly grateful to receive this endorsement from the men and women of the United Steelworkers,” Hochul said in a statement on Friday. “Unions are the foundation of the middle class and will lead the way in building New York’s future. I will always stand in solidarity with the labor movement and fight to make sure working families receive the wages, benefits, and workplace protections they deserve.”

Hochul is being challenged for the Democratic nomination next year by U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is also considering a run for governor.
