The 9/11 attacks and the COVID pandemic were both disasters that continue to have negative effects on the mental health of thousands of Americans. 

Next Wednesday and Thursday, the Institute for Disaster Mental Health (IDMH) at SUNY New Paltz will host its 17^th annual conference on this issue. The topics the conference will explore will include "Crisis Leadership & Change Management," "Addressing Racial Disparities in Disaster Response" and "Treating Complex Grief and Loss."

Capital Tonight discussed the conference with IDMH Director Dr. Amy Nitza.
