New York officials will increase the allowable capacity at movie theaters, museums, zoos and indoor sports arenas as the COVID-19 positivity rate has continued a steady decline in recent weeks and more people are vaccinated, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced.
Museums and zoo capacity will be increased to 50% next Monday, April 26, Cuomo said. Movie theater capacity will increase to 33% next week as well.
Sports arenas go to 25% on May 19 in anticipation of coming postseasons for the NBA and the NHL.
New York's positive rate stands at 2.94%, the lowest rate since November. There are now 3,783 people hospitalized due to COVID-19 in New York; 44 people have died have died in the last day of the virus.
