The National Organization for Women is calling for Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign, Capital Tonight has learned.
In a phone call, NOW-NY Executive Director Sonia Ossorio told Capital Tonight that "He has lost the trust of NOW members."
In February, Ossorio told the New York Post in a statement that she wanted an independent inquiry "free of political pressure."
When asked why the organization is now calling for Cuomo’s resignation, Ossorio said, "It’s become untenable for the governor to remain in office. There’s a great deal of work to be done. We are confident that the teams of people who work in state government who have been driving the rollout of the vaccine will continue."
"The mounting allegations of sexual harassment are going to cloud every day of his administration, if he stays in it," Ossorio said.
