Wednesday marked the busiest day of early voting since it began on Saturday in New York, with 325,426 people casting ballots statewide.
Voting has increased virtually every day since Sunday, when 210,245 people voted. Since then, the number of voters at polling places has quickly climbed.
The number of New Yorkers voting over five days easily surpassed the million mark at the same time, with 1,357,886 New Yorkers having already cast ballots.
In 2016, when there was no early voting and the most recent presidential election was held, 7.8 million people voted in that race.
Some counties have extended voting hours to handle the number of voters heading to the polls early. And there has been criticism of long lines at polling places, spurring calls for more early voting polling places in the next election.
