Former Governor David Paterson is joining the public affairs and communications firm Kivvit, joining several former staffers to Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Paterson most recently and briefly was the public face of a coalition pushing back against increasing taxes on wealthy New Yorkers.

Paterson has also worked on an effort backing a Sheldon Adelson-owned casino for New York City.

His job at Kivvit will focus on "strategic counsel" and helping implementing diversity, equity and inclusion plans at the firm.

“As a former governor, I have worked with many public affairs firms, but none have impressed me as much as Kivvit,” Paterson said in a statement. “Their continued commitment to data, analytics and innovation is unparalleled in this space. I am excited to be a part of this team and bring my years of experience to the growing firm.”

Josh Vlasto, a former advisor and spokesman for Cuomo, is also joining Kivvit as a managing director.

“My friends and colleagues at Kivvit are first class professionals with a depth of experience, knowledge and unmatched expertise that I believe makes Kivvit one of the preeminent national corporate and public affairs strategy firms in New York and across the country," he said.

Paterson is joining former Cuomo communications aide Rich Bamberger, who is a managing director at the firm. A managing partner at the firm is Maggie Moran, a top advisor and aide to Cuomo during his successful 2018 re-election campaign.
