A new partnership between the Syracuse City School District and SUNY Upstate Medical University looks to help students with their mental health now and in the future.
Powered by a $5.5 million grant from the U.S. Education Department, the two sides will work together to get two mental health clinics within the district next year.
They are also looking toward students down the line by training the next generation of mental health workers.
"Our students experience multiple challenges before they walk into our school doors, so being able to provide comprehensive mental health students is going to have such a tremendous impact on our students and on their ability to learn," said Terri Bowers, director of mental health for the Syracuse schools.
