The New York State Police will not renew its lease at the former Cazenovia College after it expires in summer 2025.

Both the NYSP and the Village of Cazenovia's mayor confirmed Wednesday that the lease won't be renewed. It ends on Aug. 31, 2025, according to Mayor Kurt Wheeler.

The state police had been using a large portion of the campus as an auxiliary training academy.

"There are parties interested in redeveloping the campus who are working with the brokers and conducting appropriate due diligence and we hope to have more information about that process in the near future," Wheeler said in a statement.

The NYSP says the current recruit class at the former college is on track for a February 2025 graduation, but Executive Director of Information Beau Duffy says it "will be the last at the satellite academy.

"Our original goal was to hold two recruit classes at Cazenovia, which has been achieved, and we have determined that additional classes there are not necessary," Duffy said in a statement.
