With Halloween coming up on Thursday, Buffalo's Oishei Children's Hospital is sharing some tips if you plan to take the kids trick-or-treating.

They are reminding people to stay alert, cross roads only at designated crosswalks, look out for cars and stick to well-lit streets and sidewalks.

When it comes to costumes, make sure they are fire resistant and easily seen by everyone. Also, make sure your costumes don't have anything that could cause kids to trip and don't use any sharp objects as accessories.

You should also make sure you check the trick-or-treating curfew times for your area.

Recent statistics show that children are more than twice as likely to be fatally injured by a car on Halloween compared to any other day.
