The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles is reminding New Yorkers they have until Oct. 26 to register to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

You can apply in person at the DMV if you are getting a driver's license, learner's permit or nondriver ID transaction.

If you already have these, you can head to the DMV website to register.

You'll have to enter your date of birth, current ZIP code, last four digits of your Social Security number and provide an email address.

To apply by mail to your local board of elections, applications must be received no later than Oct. 26 to be eligible to vote in the general election.

New Yorkers can also register in person at their local board of elections.
