Nearly $44 million in federal grants will be going to support homeless and at-risk veterans and their families in New York, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced Tuesday.
That funding comes from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
“Our brave veterans have put their lives on the line to protect us, and it’s unacceptable that after years of service to their country, so many end up on the streets,” Gillibrand said in a statement. “These grants will help community organizations across New York provide more housing and services to homeless and at-risk veterans. I’m proud to announce this funding and will continue to fight to reduce veteran homelessness in New York and across the country.”
