Detectives with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office arrested a man Tuesday and charged him with causing the death of his 4-year-old child in DeWitt.

Joshua Emmons is charged with manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the May death of his child, Rykelan Brown, the sheriff's office said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

Emmons was being held at the Justice Center pending an arraignment on Wednesday, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office had said an initial call in the case occurred around 11 p.m. May 26, when DeWitt police and EMS personnel received a call for "injuries related from a fall." Brown later died.
