Brand new champions were crowned Sunday in the men’s and women’s 15Ks at the 47th-annual Boilermaker.

For the men, John Korir of Kenya edged out back-to-back champ Jemal Yimer Mekonnen to win his first Boilermaker with a time of 42:09:31.

The women’s race ended in a photo finish with 20-year-old Grace Loibach Nawowuna of Kenya winning with a time of 49:17:82.

"I think it's really cool, especially for our area," said participant Jack Gibson. "Like, there's so many people, I think 10,000 people are racing. So I think it brings a lot of people together in our community. And I think that's really cool."

It's another year where thousands came together in Utica, including elite runners, casual runners, kids and people out to have fun.
