A plane crashed in Delaware County Sunday afternoon, killing five people on board.
The FAA said a single-engine plane out of Oneonta went down around 2 p.m. Authorities say it had taken off from Albert S. Nader Regional Airport.
The New York State Police said a multi-agency search of the crash area, around Lake Cecil Road in the town of Masonville, led to the discovery of the plane, a Piper Malibu Mirage.
Five people from Georgia — Roger Beggs, 76; Laura Van Epps, 43; Ryan Van Epps, 42; James Van Epps, 12; and Harrison Van Epps, 10 — did not survive, according to authorities. All were family members, traveling home from a baseball tournament in Cooperstown.
The NYSP, FAA and NTSB are investigating.
