A woman in Syracuse is accused of killing her 5-year-old daughter and hiding her body, according to court documents.

Latasha Mott, 29, is charged with first-degree manslaughter and disposal of a corpse degree, a felony, stemming from an incident on Jan. 6, according to documents filed in city court.

Mott allegedly killed her daughter, Nefertiti, by hitting her with a belt multiple times in the shower at her home on West Beard Avenue.

After that, court documents state she tried to hide the body, putting it in a wooded area.

The 5-year-old attended kindergarten in Syracuse schools, according to a district spokesperson.

Earlier on Monday, Spectrum News 1 had a chance to talk to Nefertiti’s aunt, who described the young girl as fun to be around.

“I used to be like, you’re meaner than a rattlesnake, and she used to just laugh, or make a little face. She was just a nice, outgoing kid,” said Donkeisha Jones, Nefertiti's aunt.

It’s still unknown if the body has been found. Officials searched several locations in Syracuse on Monday.
