Two of the people charged in the Syracuse shooting death of 11-year-old Brexialee Torres-Ortiz were sentenced to prison on Tuesday.
Deckyse Bridges and Rasean Patterson both received a sentence of 25 years to life.
Torres-Ortiz, a student in the Syracuse City School District, was shot as she walked home on errand with a gallon of milk on Jan. 16, according to Syracuse Police. A 19-year-old man was also injured. City officials told Spectrum News 1 that 15 rounds were fired, with the 19-year-old as the presumed target, and Brexialee was hit in the crossfire.
Another suspect, Daviere Griswold, will go to trial on Feb. 26, 2024.
