In preparation of Sunday's early morning kick-off for the Buffalo Bills against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, Gov. Kathy Hochul has directed the State Liquor Authority to extend the deadline for bars and restaurants to apply for a special Sunday liquor permit to Friday, waiving the normally required 15-day advance notice.

The special use permit would authorize businesses to sell alcoholic beverages on Sunday between the hours of 8 and 10 a.m. The state normally does not allow establishments to start serving before 10 a.m.

"From London to Buffalo, Bills fans everywhere on Sunday will be circling the wagons cheering on our team to stampede the Jaguars," Gov. Hochul said. "With the early start time on this side of the pond, we're extending the deadline for bars and restaurants to apply for a special Sunday liquor permit to start serving alcohol two hours earlier at 8 a.m. Whether you're in the mood for a pint or simply that Bills spirit, we're making sure all Bills fans have options on where to gather and cheer together on Sunday."

The permit fee is $35 and applications can be accessed at sla.ny.gov. The completed application should be sent to the SLA’s Albany office at Alfred E. Smith Office Building, Suite 900, 80 South Swan St., Albany, NY 12210-8002.

The Bills kick off against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 9:30 a.m. EDT.
