Baseball fans from across the region are making the trip to Fulton County this weekend, as the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame Museum opened in Gloversville Saturday morning.

The new facility honors and pays tribute to all those who contributed to the state’s baseball history.

Induction ceremonies have been held every year since 2011, but now there’s a brick-and-mortar location for baseball fanatics to see the plaques and all the memorabilia.

“We are 12 years old. [There’s been] a lot of work over the years. [We’ve had] a lot of support from Fulton County, the Fulton County Board of Supervisors. A lot of support from a lot of people [and] donations. [It’s been a] labor of love,” said the executive director of the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame Museum Rene LeRoux. “Thrilled to be here across the street from Parker's Field."

It’s located about 45 miles north of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown.

The museum will be open Thursday to Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
