Rev. Al Sharpton joined the congregations at True Bethel and St. John the Baptist Sunday morning as they honored and celebrated the lives of the 10 victims lost in the mass shooting last May 14 at the Jefferson Avenue Tops supermarket in Buffalo.

It was a service filled with music, dance and healing.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James joined City Council President and Senior Pastor Darius Pridgen for the service.

Sharpton spoke about the outreach his National Action Network did in the days following the tragedy and helping to pay for the funerals.

He says that his organization will continue to be with the families for years to come.

"When I told you last year here I was going to be here next year, the truth is in going to be here every year,” Sharpton said. “And I’ll be here when they no longer remember."

He also touched on the lack of progress made to end systemic racism in society.
