The Utica University Board of Trustees is moving forward with plans to eliminate 13 majors due to low enrollment.

In January, the Board of Trustees issued a resolution that a decline in enrollment has resulted in a low faculty-to-student ratio.

Now the areas of study being cut include criminal justice, geo-science, health care management, nutrition, Spanish and more.

Right now, there are 114 people pursuing degrees in those majors, according to the university.

The students currently enrolled will still be able to finish their degree, but no future students will be accepted.

The board originally said 15 majors were on the list to potentially be cut,  but two were spared — chemistry and physics.

This move by the university has been met with fierce opposition from some students and faculty.
