The latest development in the future of Great Northern Mall continues to unfold Monday.

The mall's current ownership, Kohan Retail Investment Group, had previously informed the Clay mall's last remaining 12 tenants that they faced lease termination with direction to vacate the property by Sunday, November 20.

Guy Hart Jr., of Hart Lyman Companies, is preparing to purchase the property, and says that he has talked with the current owner and the deadline for closing and leases being terminated on Nov. 20 is now not the case.

Hart said Kohan has agreed to be flexible about then tenants have to leave.

The tenants will have to vacate and the mall will have to shut down operations before the sale closes, which is expected to be by the end of the year or in early 2023.

The mall opened in Clay in 1988. Hart-Lyman hopes to close on the property by the end of the year and create a mixed-use space.
