The Boilermaker Road Race has long been a summer tradition in Utica. This year, the 45th running of the popular event will be held Sunday, July 10.

The event, typically held on the second Sunday of July each year, was postponed to the fall last year and held virtually in 2020, due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

The 15K race will field 14,500 runners, while the 5K will have a capacity of a little more than 4,000.

Priority registration will open at noon a week from today. Runners who completed any of the 2021 races, including the virtual events, will be eligible to register during that priority registration period.

Open registration is from Friday, March 11 at noon to July 5, or until races reach capacity.

There will be COVID-19 protocols in place. Runners will either need to show proof of vaccination or present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of the race.
