New York State Police will again crack down on dangerous driving as we get into the holidays.

The National Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over initiative runs until New Year’s Day.

You can expect to see sobriety checkpoints and more troopers out on patrol.

Last year, state police arrested 440 people for driving while intoxicated and issued more than 3,600 tickets.

State police advise that:

  • Before you start drinking, designate a sober drivers
  • If you’re drunk, call a taxi or ridesharing service, reach out to a sober friend or family member, or take public transportation to get home
  • If you know someone who is about drive while impaired, take their keys and help them make other arrangements
