At C-NS, the Northstars attempt at a fourth straight section championship started with Nottingham. The Bulldogs were the eight-seed and looking to shakeup Class AA in a big way with an upset.

Nottingham started off strong by forcing a fumble and turning that turnover into points to take a 7-0 lead. In the second quarter, the Northstars regrouped and came out firing. Jaxon Razmovski led the way with three rushing touchdowns in a 35-0 run for C-NS.

With the 35-7 win, the Northstars improved to 6-2, while Nottingham's season ended with an 0-8 record.

Next up, the Northstars will host Liverpool in the Class AA semis next Friday night.

Elsewhere, the CBA Brothers had lost three straight games going into the playoffs, but the Brothers bounced back with a big 20-12 road win at Whitesboro Friday night. Historic Chiz Frye Field is not the friendliest road environment, and one of the few grass fields left in Section III. But, CBA jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first half and held on for the victory.

The 6th-seeded Brothers are dangerous with the talented QB-WR combo of Jordan Rae and Syair Torrence, and you can be sure F-M is not eager to see them again in the semis next week after squeaking out a 31-26 win over the Brothers earlier this month.

The New Hartford Spartans looked every bit the part of a top seed in their playoff opener Friday night, opening up a serious can against Westhill in a 54-0 demolition of the Warriors.

Running back Alex Collver continued his remarkable senior season, piling up 110 yards on only 12 carries and scoring two rushing touchdowns, adding a third on an 86-yard kickoff return.

The Spartans (8-0) also blocked a punt to set up a 15-yard touchdown run by Cole Raux, and scored another touchdown on an 82-yard interception return by Tommy Vitagliano.

They can hurt you in many ways, and Sparty could be holding a sectional title celebration party for the first time since 2008.

The Cazenovia Lakers have been a longtime powerhouse in Class B, and now the program is two wins away from its first-ever title in Class C after knocking off Holland Patent, 28-21, Friday night.

Caz QB AJ Rothfeld is one tough customer, and makes plenty of plays on both sides of the football. And Peter McCole provides a nice changeup, lining up alongside Rothfeld in the backfield and sometimes bumping him from behind center to take the snap and take the play in a different direction.

The Lakers get 2017 Class C state champ Skaneateles in the semifinals after the Skane Lakers squeaked past Canastota by two points Friday night. One thing's for sure -- the Lakers (one or the other) will be moving onto the sectional final at the Dome next month.
