The Department of Transportation continues to accept comments on the future of Interstate 81.
The first chance to ask questions, get answers and submit comments in-person is this evening from 3:30-8:30 p.m. at the Oncenter. You can submit comments one-on-one to a stenographer, in writing, or at a more public microphone.
“People don’t hesitate to tell us what they think,” said Mark Frechette, the project director. “We are already getting hundreds of comments in on the website, comment forms, so forth. And that’s good, that’s good. We embrace that. We want to hear from the public. We may not always agree with everything and that’s OK. You know, I think that it’s through this process that we have been able to build a project.”
The DOT representatives will be stationed by poster displays showing the current viaduct, the proposed alternative and other details about construction. At 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., the DOT will play pre-recorded presentations on the future of the project.
If you plan on attending, the Oncenter has a universal mask policy. Social distancing will be required, too.
