Marijuana use will be permitted wherever tobacco use is on the New York State Fairgrounds this year, according to the fair's public relations manager Monday.

It's one of the many firsts coming for the State Fair, which returns this week.

It can't be smoked indoors or at Chevy Court and Chevy Park, but can be smoked anywhere else that's outdoors.

The fair does encourage those who smoke marijuana to be considerate those around them.

The State Fair starts this Friday, August 20.
