The city of Oswego has been granted a temporary restraining order in the latest legal action against the Port of Oswego Authority surrounding a controversial grain silo being built on the city's shoreline.

Mayor Billy Barlow says the order will halt construction on the structure while the state Supreme Court reviews the city's legal action.

The lawsuit was filed after the city claimed the port was building a much larger structure than what was approved by Port officials last year. Many community members have expressed their displeasure with its location along the waterfront, which takes away the view of the Oswego Lighthouse from the Great Lakes Seaway Trail.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments on the city's legal action on September 7.
