In Onondaga County, absentee ballot applications must be received today, by either email or fax, if you are looking to vote in the primary election next week.

If you are submitting via mail, it must be postmarked by today as well.

You can still apply for a ballot in person at the board of elections through Monday. Elections commissioners say many people are still choosing to vote with absentee ballots.

"We are at a brisk pace for requests. We have more requests than we did four years ago for the 2017 mayoral primaries. More people are voting by absentee now, that's more permissive than what it was. But we're not seeing the 13,000 requests that we got last year," said Onondaga County Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny (D).

You can also cast your vote early in-person through Sunday. Day-of votes can be cast at your local polling station on Primary Day, which is June 22.

Of course, the biggest race we'll be watching is the Syracuse mayoral primary. On the Democratic ticket, Khalid Bey is facing off against Michael Greene, and on the Republican side, Janet Burman faces Thomas Babilon.
