A candlelight vigil was held outside the Skyline apartments in Syracuse, where police found the body of 93-year-old Connie Tuori. Her death is now being investigated as a homicide.

What You Need To Know

  • OGs Against Violence held a candlelight vigil to remember the life of Connie Tuori

  • The 93-year-old was found dead in her Skyline apartment by police this week

  • Police have yet to release how she died, but her death is being investigated as a homicide

"Everybody knew her, so ya know, our heart goes out to her," said Clifford Ryan, leader of OGs Against Violence. "People lose their lives and no one shows them that support, so I wanted to make sure that I came and showed Connie and her family that love and support."

The humble gathering was held Saturday afternoon in an effort to honor Tuori’s mermory, and shed light on violence in the community.

"Whoever did it, that person needs to be brought to justice," said Ryan.

It's not the first time the corner has seen violence.

"Right here in this parking lot, I've stopped many fights. It's something that comes with the territory of doing the work of OGs Against Violence," said Ryan.

Our Generation Against Violence, Clifford's group, is one that's working to make vigils like these something that's needed less and less in a city that he's grown up in.

He is hoping, with the city's involvement in the apartments, that the building will once again become a safe place for people in the community to live.
