As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the City of Oswego, Mayor Billy Barlow is calling out bigger retail stores.

He says Oswego is dangerously close to moving into one of the microcluster zones laid out by the state. There are currently 534 active cases in the county, and the mayor says community members need to make better decisions.

During the City of Oswego's virtual town hall Wednesday, Barlow brought up the lack of people wearing mask when they go to the store, and he specifically called out Walmart.

"I don't know why Walmart isn't enforcing masks. I know that we've told management over and over and over again to do the right thing," said Barlow. "This goes back to March, when we actually had social distancing enforcement details and mask distribution drives in the lobby at Walmart. I know that corporate Walmart has come out and said they're enforcing mask mandate, so it falls on the local stores to enforce it."

Oswego County has seen 977 positive COVID-19 cases since November 1.
