While some schools are sticking to remote learning, children in Binghamton are still getting some of the class supplies they need.

The community group CARES is working with the city to distribute hundreds of backpacks to students. Each one has pencils, folders, and all the essentials.

"I think that's great, I think that because ... I have friends that are teachers. I also have children, and I think for all of us to be safe, I think it's smart to take the proper precautions and make sure everything is clean, prepared for when the kids are ready to start," said Sarita Barreiro of Binghamton.

There will be another backpack giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at three locations: Horace Mann, Woodrow Wilson, and Benjamin Franklin elementary schools.
