The North Syracuse School district is trying a slightly different approach with their reopening plan.
C-NS will offer five days a week of in-person instruction for special education students.
There will also be an all-virtual model for those who want it.
Parents of elementary and middle school students can choose the option of two days in-person and three days of remote learning, but for high school students who want to go back to school, there will only be one day of in-person instruction, with the remaining four days virtual.
The district will send out student groupings in August so parents know when their students will be in the school.
In one week, the district will be sending out surveys to parents, specific to each student, to help with student placement and transportation. The district expects a number of parents to pick up and drop off students, which could present challenges.
Right now, 30 percent of parents are unsure if their children will return to school, and more than half are expected to return to school, whatever the hybrid model is.
The district has increased the number of laptops it has on hand to help students with virtual learning.
