A new spot for Broome County neighbors to get outside while socially distancing.

What You Need To Know

  • Designing and constructing the overlook cost $85,000 in state grant funding.
  • The overlook is located in Endicott's Roundtop Picnic Area.
  • Scenic views overlook Broome County.

The new scenic outlook at Roundtop Picnic Area is officially open in Endicott. It's been known to have beautiful views of the Susquehanna River, but overgrown vegetation in recent years has obstructed that view.

Thanks to a state grant, fixing up the outlook became part of a greater project to enhance the waterfront.

"I mean we've been stuck in our houses, in our own yards and it's just nice to come up and get a change of scenery. It's so pretty. It had gotten overgrown too. Sit here and look out and see how far you really can see, it's really kind of impressive," said Endicott Resident JoAnne Bill.

A hiking trail connects Roundtop and Grippen Parks in the waterfront area and more trails will be built to connect with other nearby parks.
