The Carrier Dome roof construction will continue.

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon discussed the project at his daily briefing Friday. The project is considered essential because the steel beams that will hold up the new roof have not been connected. McMahon says stopping work could pose a different type of threat because they're not secured.

"We're not going to stop construction, and let 50 miles per hour winds present another public health challenge. So I called the state and put everybody on notice on that and I talked to the contractor," said McMahon.

The new Carrier Dome roof is expected to be finished in time for the scheduled start to the football season in September.
