It’s a day Paul and Cheryl Molesky weren’t sure would ever get here.
“Oh to be in my home, my home is my safe place, my heart, our place, and it’s wonderful,” said Cheryl Molesky.
The couple is relaxing in Syracuse after an extended, 47 day adventure. Coronavirus fears derailed their trip.
“You know, we’re just two ordinary people who have been thrown into a world calamity,” said Paul Molesy.
The Molesky’s circled January 16 on their calendar. It’s when they left for a bucket-list trip to Japan. Finally, they returned home Monday night.
“It took us a while to relax last night and when I got up this morning I was so glad that I was here,” Paul said. “It’s like I was lifting weights and I finally put them down.”
The two were quarantined on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan. Then they spent about two more weeks on a base in Texas.
On Monday, the CDC gave the couple the all-clear.
“If I had a chance to do it over again, I think I would believe it or not, because for one thing we feel so loved and needed right now,” Cheryl said. “We had laughed. I mean we’re not that funny at home. They think we’re hilarious now. They’re telling us how much they love us all the time.”
Paul and Cheryl are easing back into normal life, making blueberry cobbler and spinning wool. And they’re already planning their next vacation.
Every one of Paul and Cheryl Molesky’s coronavirus tests came back negative. They plan to create an art series documenting their adventures.
