Dozens of school districts across New York State are in fiscal stress.

According to a new report from State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s office, 33 schools are facing financial trouble, with four in significant fiscal stress. Those include the Northern Adirondack Central School District in Clinton County and Norwich City School District in Chenango County.

The comptroller said Norwich has actually been in significant stress for the last two years.

The Southern Tier was the only region with a decrease in the number of districts in financial stress this year. Central New York and the North Country had the largest percentages of districts in one of the three categories.

DiNapoli's report covers 674 districts across the state, excluding Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Yonkers, and New York City.
