A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Syracuse Tuesday night.
Police responded to a call for a shooting on the 100 block of Fenton Street just before 8 p.m. They say it was a domestic relationship between a man and a 6-year-old boy.
When officers arrived, they saw a suspect who was armed at the scene. Officers engaged with the armed individual, discharged the weapon, and was killed at the scene.
Police say the child was shot before they arrived. He was transported to Upstate Hospital and is listed in critical condition
Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick on Wednesday identified the man killed by police as Miguel Russo and the 6-year-old boy as the man's nephew.
Fitzpatrick said his office will determine if Russo was high or intoxicated when he shot his nephew.
