A football player in the Southern Tier is overcoming autism to shine on the field.

Tioga's Jared Lamb was diagnosed with autism when he was two years old. Jared didn't speak until he was four but now, he plays football with the top-ranked Tigers.

Friday night, Jared ran in a touchdown for his team in the first quarter. It wasn't an easy play, but it brought a lot of emotion for everyone watching.

"I cried, I knew what it meant to him because he was telling me that he was practicing holding the ball and trying to make a touchdown. I really didn't believe it but when I saw it happen and I saw the team crowd around him, it was just amazing," said Jared’s mother Julie.

Jared and the Tioga Tigers take on Delhi in the Sectional Semifinals this Saturday.
