A construction worker was killed in a work zone on State Route 80 in Tully on Wednesday. 

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office identified the victim on Thursday as Jeffrey Stout, 41, of Homer. 

Deputies said an employee from Suit Kote Corporation was operating a dump truck in the construction zone when the driver backed up and struck another employee directing traffic.

The employee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suit Kote, based out of Cortland, is the contractor that is repaving Route 80.

Route 80 between Vesper and Long Road was closed while authorities processed the scene. The road as since reopened.
