A man pleaded guilty in connection with the death of his son during a tubing incident in the Adirondacks.

New York State Police say a 12-year-old boy died in Forestport last summer after being thrown from a tube attached to a boat on Otter Lake.

The boy's father, Francis Eckrich, had been operating the boat.

Officials say Eckrich tried to avoid hitting an anchored boat. In the process, his son Kaden was thrown off his tube and into a pontoon.

Eckrich pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide.

Another child, who was riding on the tube with Eckrich, was not hurt.

Sentencing for Eckrich is scheduled for December.
