Communities will be firing up their grills for their first ever restaurant week.

On the Susquehanna, could be a foodies dream. Owego has many restaurants and leaders want to start showcasing "hidden gems."

Las Chicas Taqueria, Head Chef, Anthony Eschler said Tioga County hasn't always been known for its food. "I feel like a lot of people don't come to Tioga County or Owego based on like food and cuisine stuff like that," said Eschler.

But some neighbors believe that's all changing. "Owego's gotten recognition for being a cool, small town and one of the coolest in America in the past. It sounds like something that's overdue," said Isaac Garrigues-Cortelyou, an Owego resident.

The county is ready to show off its food selection. And Las Chicas is one of more than 20 participating restaurants. "We're a west coast based Mexican style restaurant," said Eschler.

One that people like Isaac and his wife are ready to try out this restaurant week.

"We have a couple favorites down here and Las Chicas is one of them that we might go to."

Which means steady business for these restaurants.

"We definitely just had our busiest summer ever in the nine years we've been open so this should hopefully continue that throughout the downtime so it'll be nice," said Eschler.
