The replacement for the late Judge James Tormey who died in June has been named in Central New York,
The Hon. James Murphy was appointed Thursday to the position of administrative state Supreme Court judge for the 5th District.
He oversees courts in Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, Oneida and Onondaga counties.
Murphy has served as a state Supreme Court judge since 2004.
Tormey died in June. He was appointed by Gov. George Pataki in 1995.
