The Catholic Diocese of Syracuse has paid nearly $11 million to settle claims with 79 victims of alleged sexual abuse.
Administrators released the results of their Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program on Wednesday, which revealed that 88 total claims were filed against the district since February 2018.
The total cost for the diocese was nearly $12.5 million when administrative costs are included.
Diocese leaders said no money donated to the district or to any of its charities was used for this purpose.
Back in December the Syracuse Diocese publicly released a list of 57 priests with alleged abuse accusations that dated back more than 60 years.
The diocese continues to encourage any victim of abuse to come forward.
