U.S. Rep. Anthony Brindisi already has a challenger for the 22nd Congressional District seat in 2020.
Republican George Phillips announced Tuesday that he will try again for the seat in the next election.
The history teacher started his district tour with a stop in Utica, saying that America needs a "bold plan."
"I'm not happy with the direction of the country for sure, with this Congress and a lot of the things they're doing, focusing so much on investigations after we just had two years of investigations and reports saying we had nothing,” Phillips said. “I think they should focus on solutions here."
Phillips previously ran for Congress in 2010 and 2016. He has been an adjunct professor at SUNY Broome Community College and was previously the dean of students at Seton Catholic Central High School.
The district covers Chenango, Cortland, Madison, and Oneida counties, and parts of Oswego, Broome, Herkimer, and Tioga counties. It includes the cities of Binghamton, Utica and Rome.
