Palm Sunday was seen throughout the world on Sunday, marking the start to Holy Week. It is the time for Christians to remember the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem.
Hundreds of Catholics attended mass throughout Central New York and were given palms to symbolize the leaves that covered the streets, as Christ rode into the city.
Church officials say Holy Week is all about reflecting on the sacrifices Jesus made for his followers.
"Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance into Jerusalem where he would undergo his passion, crucifixion, and resurrection, for the salvation of the world,” said Father Richard Dellos of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church.
The season of lent continues with Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and ending with Easter Sunday.
