Two Wayne County residents have been charged with murder after a Rochester rapper was found dead at a home in Syracuse.

According to the Rochester Police Department, officers received information Tuesday regarding a missing person who was believed to be the victim of a serious crime.

Investigators were able to locate a vehicle associated with the missing person at a vacant home on Dearborn Place in Syracuse.

When police searched the property on Tuesday, they found an adult man dead.

Court documents later identified the victim as Maximillion Cook, who was shot at least once in the torso with a semi-automatic handgun.

Tuesday afternoon, Rochester police later initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in Rochester in connection to the incident. The vehicle refused to stop and police pursued. The chase ended in the 1600 block of Clifford Avenue where the vehicle collided with a city garbage truck.

Both occupants of the car, identified as 30-year-old Aries M. Ash and 36-year-old Chariesse Walton, of North Rose, were arrested and charged with murder in the second degree.

Ash and Walton both pleaded not guilty to charges in court on Wednesday.

However, a criminal complaint alleges that Ash gave a voluntary statement to police and waived his Miranda rights. The document also states that Ash admitted to going to the Pennsylvania Avenue area in Rochester with Walton and firing one shot into Cook's torso, causing his death.
