The man sheriff's deputies say opened fire inside a Denny's restaurant injuring four people pleaded not guilty to charges on Monday.

Justus Holmes, 24, of Syracuse, is charged with two counts of attempted murder in the second degree, along with assault, menacing, and criminal use of a firearm.

Investigators say he walked into the Denny's on Lawrence Road East in the town of Salina around 4 a.m. Sunday. That's when he apparently fired at a group of customers and employees, shooting 3 people.

According to deputies, the suspect walked in the restaurant, approached a man then shot him and opened fire on a group of patrons and employees.

They are all expected to survive. A fourth victim was treated for a non-shooting injury.

Police on Monday also released the names of the victims. They were identified as 24-year-old Jerry Massey, of Mattydale, 32-year-old Maurice Jones, of North Syracuse, and 24-year-old Dillon Porter, of Syracuse.

Detectives say the suspect had been arguing with his ex-girlfriend, who was inside Denny's. The motive appears to be domestic-related.

Denny's has also released a statement.

"We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at our North Syracuse restaurant this morning, and the entire Denny’s family is keeping those injured in our thoughts. The safety of our guests and team members is a top priority, and we are fully cooperating with local law enforcement," read the statement.

At his arraignment on Monday, a judge set Holmes' bail at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.

Holmes, who works in security and has weapons, also had his pistol permit suspended.

An order of protection was granted for the four victims.

Holmes will be back in court on Feb. 8.
