Throughout the day Tuesday, Mother Nature battered the Mohawk Valley.

Some areas recorded up to two feet of snow. On the roadways snowplows running their routes every minute just to keep up with the snow.

Tuesday night, the city of Utica declared a snow emergency mandating all parked cars to be off the roads by 6 p.m. This mandate was issued by the city to help the Utica’s Department of Public Works (DPW).

Throughout the city, residents left for work and then returned to a mess. Stewart Bailey, a longtime resident of Utica, says he is used to the challenges mother nature throws his way.

"I just take it one day at a time,” said Bailey. "[Shoveling is] like your job; you just do it.”

Kids in the area played in the snow, also praying for a snow day. But unfortunately for some, they didn’t get the day off.

“I love the snow, because then we get snow days and don't have to go to school,” said Skylar Perkins. Her sister Peyton could not agree fast enough, laughing at her sister's comment.

The question was posed to their father, Tom Sever, about spring. He is hoping for warmer weather.

"I know we still have a couple months of this going on,” said Sever. “But I'm waiting for summer, not spring."
