UTICA, N.Y. -- A Human Trafficking Court may be starting up in Oneida County.

The Oneida County District Attorney confirms the idea is being discussed.

The goal is to handle human-trafficking cases in a more sensitive way, and try to go deeper in addressing the issues behind it.

"If you're in city court, they just push the cases through. There's no real effort on each case to try to fix the person or try to solve the person's problem, where this court would have more time to do it. So I think it's a good idea," said Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara.

The Oneida County District Attorney says his office handles about 20 cases each year.
