BOONVILLE, N.Y. -- Some Oneida County farmers are making the change from dairy to beef production.

A group met with the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County on Wednesday.

People talked about the transition and other issues farmers face.

One farmer is going to expand his beef production because he said the dairy industry is a difficult one right now.

"In the past, I think most would agree that it's been more optimistic generally that it's just a cycle. This time it seems like, it appears to be more than just a cycle," said SS Milky Way Farms, Hidden Hill Ranch Owner Scott Sawyer.

There are currently more than 220 dairy farms in Oneida County.
